Justin's School Heritage Project

In November, Justin was assigned a Canadian Heritage project to do. This National program promotes the study of Canadian heritage to school age children. Justin chose to do his project on the Joggins Fossil Cliffs here in Nova Scotia.

When we looked online, we discovered that a new fossil center had been built at the Cliffs since our last visit in September 2007. The Center was closed for the winter, but upon contacting the PR guy (Andrew), we were invited to come to the center so that Justin could interview the Chief Interpreter (Brian Hebert). They spent 2 hours with us at the center and down on the cliffs.

Justin took this information, the videotape that I made, and the photos Jeff took and created a 5 minute movie about the cliffs using Microsoft Movie Maker. He did a fabulous job on the entire project, and the teacher has requested his project stay at the school until the end of the year. As well, she wants to keep a copy of his movie for the science lab.

Unfortunately, it was only on the day of the judging that we found out that grade 4 students can not officially enter the competition, only grade 5. I am quite sure that had Justin qualified, he would have won. You can see for yourself below.
